Steps for Installation of ESXi v8.0.1

Hi, Today I decided to install ESXi 8.0 Update 1.

Prerequisites

  1. Hardware Requirements:

    • Minimum of 2 CPU cores (64-bit x86 processor with VT-x or AMD-V support).
    • 4 GB RAM (8 GB or more recommended for VMs).
    • Storage: Minimum 8 GB boot disk (16 GB recommended).
    • Network adapter compatible with ESXi.
    • Ensure your hardware is listed on the VMware Compatibility Guide (HCL).
  2. Download ESXi 8.0 U1 ISO:

  3. Create Bootable Media:

    • Use tools like Rufus, Etcher, or VMware Workstation to create a bootable USB or virtual media.

Installation Steps

Boot from Installation Media:

  • Insert the bootable USB into the target server.
  • Configure the server to boot from the USB or virtual media.
ESXi Boot Screen:
  • On the boot screen, select “ESXi Installer” and press Enter.
Accept the License Agreement:
  • Press F11 to accept the VMware End User License Agreement (EULA).

Select Installation Target:

  • Choose the disk on which you want to install ESXi (e.g., local SSD, HDD, or SAN).
  • Press Enter to proceed.

Select Keyboard Layout:
  • Choose your preferred keyboard layout and press Enter.
Set Root Password:
  • Enter a strong root password and confirm it. Press Enter to continue.
Confirm Installation:
  • Press F11 to start the installation.
  • The installer will partition the selected disk and install ESXi 8.0 U1.

Reboot 

Post-Installation Configuration

  1. Access the ESXi Direct Console Interface (DCUI):

    • After reboot, log in using the root credentials.
    • Configure network settings (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS) through the DCUI.
    • Enter F2 for login to DCUI
